Financial Intelligence

The listed companies
Bloomberg barely covers.
We cover all of them.

Meridian Advisory provides systematic, institutional-grade financial intelligence on listed companies across ASX, LSE, and TSX — validated against audited accounts, covering the full universe, not just the names that make the index.

Systematic intelligence.
Not data aggregation.

There is a fundamental difference between having data and having intelligence. We extract, standardise, and validate financial data from audited annual reports — then apply financial domain expertise to interpret what the numbers actually mean.

Full universe coverage

ASX lists over 2,200 companies. Bloomberg meaningfully covers fewer than 500. We cover the full listed universe — every sector, every size, validated against audited accounts.

All four financial statements

Income statement and balance sheet tell part of the story. Cash flows tell you whether the profits are real. We work with all four statements because that is what sound analysis requires.

Validated, not scraped

Every data point is extracted from audited annual reports and validated through multiple sanity checks. When we publish a number, it is defensible against the primary source.

Domain expertise applied

We do not aggregate and hand over a spreadsheet. We apply financial analysis to surface what the data means — where the outliers are, which direction companies are trending, and what warrants attention.

What makes the
intelligence defensible.

Full universe, not just the index

Mainstream vendors cover the companies that make the headlines. We cover the ones that don't — which is where systematic coverage gaps create real analytical edge.

Validated against audited accounts

Every number is extracted from the audited annual report and validated through multiple checks. Not estimated. Not modelled. Not scraped from a summary page.

All four financial statements

Income statement alone misses the story. We work with all four statements — including cash flows and equity movements — because that is what rigorous analysis demands.

Intelligence, not aggregation

We apply financial domain expertise to interpret what the data shows — trend direction, sector outliers, distress signals, and quality differentials. Not a data dump. A product.

What the screen finds.
What the read catches.

Periodic notes from our own process — real findings from the companies we cover, published as evidence of method, not as recommendations.

ASX — Small Cap ValueAugust 2026

Every ASX small-cap that screened as a genuine bargain this week failed basic diligence. Not one held up.

Three names, ranked cheapest on P/E and P/B relative to sector. On paper: real value plays.

One’s headline profit was almost entirely a non-cash accounting gain — the real year was a $30M loss, with two dilutive raises since. Another breached its banking covenants mid-year, forcing most of its debt reclassified as due-now — a balance sheet that still technically balances while the risk underneath it doesn’t. The third had a genuinely strong year, then guided a ~50% profit decline nobody’s priced in yet.

None of it was hidden. All of it was in filed accounts and ASX announcements. The screen just can’t see it — a ratio doesn’t know the difference between real earnings and an accounting gain, or a healthy balance sheet and one where the debt just got reclassified.

Disqualified
Fair-value gain masking a loss

Reported profit was ~5x smaller than a single non-cash revaluation. Underlying result: a real operating loss, with dilution since.

Disqualified
Covenant breach, current-year

Balance identity held exactly. The debt structure behind it didn’t — nearly all borrowings reclassified current mid-year.

Disqualified
Strong year, deteriorating outlook

Clean FY2025 result, no dilution — but guidance since points to a ~50% profit decline, results due imminently.

That’s the actual risk below the index: no analyst layer, no consensus, nothing catching this before it’s in a portfolio. The gap isn’t access to data. It’s the hours to verify what the data is actually telling you — on every name, not just the ones that make headlines.
